In this assignment, smoke bombs were put inside a jack-o-lantern in the woods, and I took some photos. I think this is my best picture. I didn't edit this picture at all, because I really like how it turned out, with the pumpkin slightly laying on it's side with the faux flowers in front, and the smoke (which was orange) flowing out of it's eyes. My other favorites are below. Orange, black and white smoke bombs were used, and the orange and black smoke stained the pumpkin, which was actually really interesting. If I were to do this again, I would probably choose it as Nature instead of Black and White, because the colored smoke would look amazing with the pumpkin and the woods as the background.

For this assignment, just like the first one, we had to go and take photos of a specific topic, and this week, I decided to take some photos of my adorable kitties, Boo and Baby. I'm surprised they stayed still for the most part, but then again, they are cats. This is what I think is my best picture. I turned up the brightness, cropped part of the couch out, and sharpened it, too. I really love how her eyes turned out, and they stand out due to her black fur and the darker color in the couch. These are the other photos that are my favorites. While taking these photographs, I learned that cats are surprisingly easy to take pictures of, and that I need more light to take better quality photos so I don't have to edit and turn the brightness up as much as I did.
In class, we learned how to retouch and edit images in Adobe Photoshop. For the assignment, we had to retouch an image of an Audi R8. I learned how to use several different editing tools, such as clone stamp and levels, and that photoshopping images can be really difficult.
For last week's photo assignment, I looked at some pictures that inspired me, and the following pictures are aforementioned photos.
In this assignment, we had to, on our own time, go and take several pictures of certain subjects that we can choose from, and I decided to pick nature as my first topic. I went to a local park with some friends to take the pictures this weekend, and I had fun doing so. Here is what I think is my best photo. I added a little bit of gradient to this picture, on everything except the leaves hanging down over the water. These are 5 other picture that I also took while at the park. While shooting this assignment, I learned that finding the right settings on cameras takes time in order to capture the best shot, and the time of day and how much light is in the area also matters greatly. I was pretty lucky to have such a gorgeous day to go and take these pictures, and I'm thankful for that.
In this assignment, we had to create a collage of the same picture in different hues, similar to Andy Warhol. First, I had to take a picture of myself, and put it into Photoshop to edit. We had to make the picture black and white, and had to copy and paste it 4 separate times, changing the hue of the black and white version each time. I enjoyed this assignment.
Shutter speed of 1/6 of a second. Shutter speed of 1/100 of a second. Shutter speed of 1/160 of a second. Shutter speed of 1/200 of a second. What I was trying to show in this photoset was the water flowing out of the faucet. I think I was able to show the difference in speed, however, the light was a bit of an issue. Aperture of 4.0. Aperture of 8.0. Aperture of 14. Aperture of 25. I was trying to show the couch in the background slowly coming into focus with each shot, while the plant remained as the main subject. Something I learned while completing this assignment is that I should try to complete shutter speed during the day, where there's more light, and outside, for as much light as possible for a better shot. For aperture, I learned that choosing a position for your camera and subject is a lot harder than it looks, and that it would also be good to shoot during the day for better lighting.
In class, we learned about different types of picture taking, and had to go out and capture photographs of all of those types of elements, with different perspectives, feels and textures. Balance. Color. Depth of Field. Frame. (Vertical) Lines. Perspective. Repetition/Pattern with a Pattern break. Rule of Thirds. Space. And lastly, texture.
During this assignment, I learned how to look at my surroundings in a different view or perspective. So many things may seem boring, but if you look at them in a certain way, you might be able to see the true potential that the object or subject holds. It's not just pointing your camera at something and taking a picture, there's a lot more to it. |
